Choosing the right school for a child is one of a parent’s most important jobs. Ohio’s education system recognizes that every child learns differently. There is no single school environment that works for all children. The best school solution fits the needs of the child. Ohio gives your family choices in education by providing scholarships that allow you to select the best solution for your child.

These scholarships support families who want to send their children to private schools. The scholarship amount is $4,250 for elementary and middle school students.

THE EDUCATIONAL CHOICE SCHOLARSHIP (EDCHOICE) is for students in Ohio’s designated underperforming public schools. More than 300 Ohio private schools participate in EdChoice.

INCOME-BASED SCHOLARSHIP (EDCHOICE EXPANSION) is for children in families with incomes at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. Scholarships are available to students in grades K – 3rd. More than 300 Ohio private schools participate in the EdChoice Expansion Scholarship.
